“The Who’s Tommy” opens up this Friday, July 2 at The Chance Theater in Anaheim Hills (http://www.chancetheater.com). This show is amazing, and I would highly recommend that you put this on your calendar for this summer. I have been doing production photos for The Chance Theater since 2005, and I’ve enjoyed seeing the creativity and passion that go into their productions. I’ve not only enjoyed working with the actors and directors, but have always been impressed with all of the the various designers who put their heart, soul and countless hours behind the scenes into every show.
When photographing in a theater, I always feel like I have a special responsibility to the lighting designers to represent their work as accurately as possible. This can be difficult, as the brightness and color of light are constantly changing throughout the show. Using any kind of automatic functions on the camera is simply not an option. For this particular production, the lighting design was done by the very talented KC Wilkerson. As usual, his use of light is spectacular in. The lighting, all of the behind the scenes design work and a talented set of actors and musicians under the direction of Oahn Nguyen all come together to make this an awesome production.
