So here we are, back in the day. Back when you were getting married or when you were just starting your family. Or back before you sent your kids off to college. Have you captured the images that describe your family as it is now? Regardless of life’s events, your family will continue to grow and change. True Image Studio specializes in capturing some of tomorrow’s precious memories of who you are, where you like to be, with an artful mixture of candid and posed portraits.
True Image Studio offers Irvine family photography sessions in the studio, inside your home, or at an outdoor location. The purpose is to have portraits that are meaningful to the family. We have a very hands-on process, and try to connect with each member of your family and bring your personalities and family relationships out in the end product. This is done by capturing a combination of posed and candid photos during the session.
True Image Studio is a boutique style business. We focus on one client at a time with a higher end experience. There is no line of people waiting for our services, and we are not a walk-in style studio. We strive to offer a comfortable experience with each Irvine photography client, with no high pressure selling.
By building a personal connection with our clients, we are able to get a better idea of who they are and bring that out in our work. With this personal touch we shoot from the heart, and not from the hip.

What can you expect from a Family Portrait Session with True Image Studio?
Free Consultation for Your Irvine Family Portrait Session
First and foremost, your consultation is absolutely free. You will be meeting with owner and Irvine photographer Doug Catiller to get a feel for the True Image Studio approach to photographing your most important family memories. During the consultation Doug wants to meet as many of the family members who will be photographed as possible. Please bring your children so they can explore the studio and get familiar with Doug so photo day is more comfortable for them.
We will be discussing your Irvine photography session in detail during your free consultation. It’s ok if you aren’t sure exactly what you want to do for your session, but try and think of what is most important to you in your new family portraits. We want to capture what you’re imagining. We will also go over what you liked, loved, and hated about your last family portrait so we can recapture anything you loved and avoid anything you disliked.
What Should You Consider For Your Irvine Family Portrait Session?
- Location. Are you interested in the family portrait session being in your home, on-location elsewhere, indoors, outdoors, in the studio? There are limitless options to consider!
- Clothing. We will discuss what you would love to wear, and go over what not to wear and why. We want your portraits to come out just right, and clothing will impact the photos significantly.
- Makeup. Certain makeup pigments are picked up considerably more than others, so what works at a night club might not work well for a daytime portrait session.
- Time of day. If you have children who will be photographed, it is important to respect their routines and schedules. We don’t want to schedule your Irvine family portrait session during nap time!
Irvine Family Portrait Pricing
Price lists are provided during the consultation, but are not focused on. We believe you should know the prices up-front, but only after meeting with Doug to decide if you are booking a photo session. We do not require a minimum print purchase after the photo session.
Once you are convinced you want to preserve your family memories with True Image Studio, we will schedule your photo session. Your retainer payment will be processed at that time. We will email you a link to your client portal where you can review and sign a contract at your leisure. The session is not officially booked until the retainer is paid and the contract is signed.
If you need more time to discuss your Irvine photography options with your family, we will email you a link to your client portal where you can review and approve a session quote, sign a contract, and pay your retainer at your convenience.

Irvine Photo Session Day
We look forward to making your photography session a memorable and positive family experience. We will start your session with a general game plan discussion. This is based on our consultation and any special circumstances of the day such as some Santa Ana Winds or the sun shining a little hotter than we anticipated.
Although we have our “game plan” for the location, we are always open to you suggesting a shot or pose you may see. Doug may also deviate from the plan when he sees a perfect shot.
After your Irvine Family Portrait Session
We will have a session review once your photos are ready to preview. You will see your images for the first time in our studio in a slideshow set to music. This is meant to be a wonderful experience for your family, so all are welcome.
Next we will go over your photos which will be set into categories where similar photos are reviewed together so you can narrow each down to your favorites. Doug will listen to what you think of each photo and provide input as needed or appropriate to help with the process. This review usually takes about one hour.
Your images and slideshow will then be posted to an online gallery which will be linked on your client page. Following the in-studio review we encourage you to share the link to your portrait page with your family and friends!
Product Order Process
Once the review process is completed, you can view the different family portrait prints and album products we offer. You can feel free to do this in the studio or in the comfort of your home. Online ordering is also available for you and is convenient for any family members who are out of town who would like to order prints.
